Amaaaaazing Aussie part one

Arriving down under and yet again being lucky to be picked up by Joe!
Joe and Deanna and Kay, of whom you will be hearing a lot, are all friends my mom met at her trip through South-America! They met in Guatamala 100 years ago and are now still friends! Hope that the friendships i make here will also be like that in a couple of years!

Anyway, i got to stay with Joe, Deanna, Ruby, Alys and Nana Ruby in Brisbane for the next week! What a lovely family to stay with!

I went into Brisbane and did some culture stuff, the usual museums and walking through town a bit!
Alongside the brisbane river they have made a park where they made a fake beach and fake sea where everyone can come and swim an have fun! Such an awesome public place! I spend almost two days just chilling there! They also have communual bbq's in almost every park here! Soooo coool! You just bring your meat and there you go!

I asked Joe if he knew a place where I could see some kangaroos, he took me for a ride and we came to a valley with probably over a thousand of wild kangaroos!!! Even Joe had never seen that many in his life! It was so magical! The next week i ate one and they taste even better then they loooook!!

After a week Kay came and picked me up and we drove to Bangalow where we did some house babysitting! I was living the good life; having a room for myself, having a television and a swimming pool, and having a replacement mom for a while!

I made day trips to Byron Bay which is just absolutelyyyy lovely! Such lovely shops and restaurant, just a pity they were all far to expensive for me! The beach there is awesome but the best part is going up to the lighthouse, the most eastern part of Australia! It really is a magical place with the most beautiful views!

Then i went on a two day Fraserisland tour, who knew that for a small part of paradise you dont have to go to Fiji but you can just of the coast of Australia!
With a 4wd you ride along the beach, which is a highway, for roughly 100 km! Beautiful white sands and blue seas! Just a pitty you cant swim in the sea because of the sharks! On the island there are a lot of wild dogs, the so called Dingo's, they look cute, but they are very aggressive.
We went swimming in a creek in which you could just float all the way down! After that we went to Indian head, a look out point. We saw turtles and rays in the water from 50 mtr height! After that we had a look at the Maheno ship wreck, that lies there on the beach, so beautiful.
After spending one night in a resort on the island we did a walk through the rainforest and we ended at a beautiful lake with the whitest sand i have ever seen! You could even clean your silver with the sand!! We ended the tour with a drive to the red canyon and rainbow beach.
We drove more then 250 km on sand those 2 days, what an awesome experience.

When I came back Kay and I went to mind another house in Ballina.
We had a wonderful christmas and i was so grateful that my friend Mimi from Bali could come and spend christmas with us!

We went riding bikes on boxing day to go to the cinemas to see the hobbit, little did we know it would be berg op, berg af all the timeee.
The movie was great and when we road back a swarm of bats flew over us, we couldnt believe our eyes because aussie bats are like ten times the size of the ones we have!! They are enormouuuuus!!!

Now i have just arrived in Sydney where Mimi and I are going to spend NYE woehoeeeee!

Australia is such an amazing country, it reminds me of South-Africa sooo much! It is a mix between SA and England/scotland
It is such a weird thing that the oldest buildings here are 200 years old, which is what we in Europe consider rather new buildings!
Sometimes it seems as if time stood still here, they have tv shows that we only had when i was small, like charmed and sabrina the teenage witch!!! The music and the radio is also very dated, and a lot of towns still dont have trafficlights hahaha!

I hope everyone has had a wonderful christmas and i already wish you all the happiness and joy in the world for
2014!!

Love from down underrrrr
