The way from Yogya to the Bromo
(a huge vulcano on Java) was supposed to be an 8 hour drive turned out to be a 12 hour drive, like always in Asia. Our driver had only slept for two hours, so my concern about his driving style was rather big. We arrived at our hotel on the mountain and for the first time in two months I was actually cold. We had to get up at 3 AM the next morning to see sunset rise next to the Bromo, we drove up the mountain with these awesome Jeeps that were far too small for all of us. The sunrise was amazing, the mist hanging over the big craters, it was all so magical. Aftrr that we actually went down to the Bromo, where Indonesian cowboys ride through the dirt. I hiked up the bromo but didn't stay there too lo g because the smell of zwavel was terrible! From Bromo it was another 8 hour drive to Den Pasar, Bali. The bus that left 5 minutes before us got in a terrible accident and we saw how the driver had to be toed out. He had two holes in his legs and you could see right through his bones, it was so awful. I know I am not supposed to say it but i was just so glad that it wasn't me in that bus! The next 8 hours i was just trying not to shit my pants and hoping i would arrive safely.

And well ofcourse I did! Bromo was really amazing, one of my highlights in Indonesia, would recommend it to everyone!

The bali life is exactly how you would expect it to be, very extremly lazy! There are not so many temples to see or touristy stuff to do so must of your time you just spend laying on the beach, which ofcourse is not a bad thing at all! :)

The hostel life is really nice, and i am so lucky that i haven't been in one discusting hostel yet, although in every shower in every hostel there is the smell of sperm from guys who have been jerking off there, well i suppose they have to do it somewhere!

I met a dutch girl Gemma and we decided to travel through Bali together for a bit and it is amazing how we are so alike! We went to the Tanah Lot temple together which is a temple on the rocks in the sea, really amazing. But through time every temple gets a bit the same....
After the temple the taxi driver invited the four of us for dinner at his place and we witnessed a praying ceremony which was very interesting.

The heat here in Bali is so different then the heat i am used to, the sun is so intens you get brown even when you put sunblock 50 on every day! Gemma and I were so hot one day in Kuta that we thought the only place we could go were the movies, so we saw The Butler which is an amazing movie! And when we came out afterwards we were freesing our buts off, mission accomplished!

From Sanur we went to a full moon party at Padang Padang beach, the most beautiful place for a beach party! They love reggae here, so the first part of the night there was a reggae band playing, which totally fitted the atmosphere. After that the dj's and the fireworks appeared and we had the best party in a long time!

We are now in Ubud, one of the places in Bali that has more culture and no beach, and for the firt time we are seeig different points of view of Bali. Yesterday we rented bicycles and thought it would be a nice idea to ride the bikes to the rice field view, ofcourse by the time we were finally on our bikes it was the hottest time of the day....
And little did we know that the road be uphill for 8 km...
BUT WE DID DO IT
With a lot of sweat involved (probably enough to get the sealevel up again) we made it all the way to the ricefield view and it was totally worth it.
For where it took us almost 1,5 hours to get up, it only took us 20 minutes to come down!

In the evening we saw a Balinese dance which is called Kecak fire dance, it was very uhhhhh, interesting haha. A group of thirty man sit in a circle and litteraly make the sound Kecak for 1,5 hours while there is a theater show going on next to it. Though I didn't understand much it was nice to see the real Bali and not the Bali created for the tourists. The funniest part of the show was that at the end the performers didn't know how fast they could get ontheir scooters to go back home, probably they were there before we even got to our hostel hahahhah!

Bali is definetly very nice and supeeeer relaxing, but you shouldn't come here for more then that because it is not really there!

Miss you all!
Love savannah
